Year 2021 marks the first year of UPSR (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah) or Primary School Examination’s abolishment. What will happen next to the primary school students when there’s no longer any examination to grade them before proceeding to the secondary school?
Will the entrance to certain high performance schools and boarding schools be fair without UPSR?
The government allowed boarding schools or any schools that have entrance requirements to set their own internal assessment to assess students who are interested in enrolling at their schools.
One of the purposes that MOE abolished UPSR is to remove the exam oriented mindset, however, that doesn't mean you should forget to keep improving your skills and knowledge. Examination is just a way to measure yourself. But when you are able to achieve more knowledge, you can pave your future easier compared to the rest of your peers.
Mathematics is only a little fish in the sea of knowledge. It is never a waste of time or money if you invest it on education as it is the best investment you can make for your future.
