About Dr David
I’ve taught reading and writing to Romani Gypsies, ancient Greek to public‑school boys, and Latin literature and satire to Cambridge University students. These experiences shape my tutoring, supported by three degrees — including a PhD in Latin and linguistics from Cambridge University.
What sets my approach apart is something parents value deeply: I also hold a master’s degree in student counselling and have extensive experience helping learners overcome exam anxiety, perfectionism and fear of failure. I understand how students think, how they struggle, and how to help them progress with confidence.
But now the focus is where it should be: your child.

I encourage my students to learn… by making mistakes.
Yes, you read that correctly. We’re all human (even tutors — well, this one anyway!), and genuine learning happens when a student feels confident enough to get things wrong from time to time.
Depending on your age, interests and needs, lessons last a maximum of 50 minutes — because concentration has limits, and effective learning respects them. And while I’m laid‑back, my lessons are designed to challenge my tutees and give them an experience they won’t find in the classroom.
My Latin tutorials are available for learners at every stage of their journey, from beginners to advanced students preparing for exams.
