About Alex

Hi there, I’m Alex, a 1st-class degree graduate from Exeter- good to see you here! I have been tutoring and lecturing for nearly 3 years now, initially to primary school children and then to GCSE and A level classes at Brighton College; who, I am delighted to say, have recently invited me back to deliver a series of lectures. I find the experience of helping students learn and grow deeply gratifying. And of course, building an open and supportive rapport is always an immensely enjoyable part of the teacher-student dynamic. Whatever the goal, long or short, I can offer a helping, enthusiastic and well-experienced hand.

About the lesson

It should go without saying that the lesson's structure and preparation work will centre around the individual student's needs and suggestions. Once I know the target subject or area, I can prepare useful and engaging materials that we can work through together. At the beginning of a lesson I like to ask more about the area in which the student would like to improve. Whether this means working on a student's fluency to increase confidence, refining their use of grammar for independent self-editing or reviewing new vocabulary to add to their arsenal, rest assured we will work steadily and successfully through it. A student's progress is, of course, always an important part of the tutoring process. After our first few lessons, I will have accurately gauged a student's strengths and weaknesses within the chosen topic, which we can use to plot a course for consistent improvement. No matter the goal, I help my students reach their true confidence and potential through clear, open and friendly sessions.
