About Imaan
I have completed my GCSES and have obtained 8-8 in combined science after being told that I would not achieve more than a 5, now I will help students in similar situations bridge the gap between the grades, I am also a 2nd year dental student so my knowledge goes way beyond the scope needed.
I will focus on key areas of struggle for the student and make a specific and structured timetable for the specific topics, my lesson will consist of me breaking down hard topics and then consolidating that knowledge with questions.

During my time at secondary school, my teachers would constantly talk and expect everyone to understand at the same level that they did. Their lessons would be boring to say the least and in the end I learnt everything through self learning.
During my tutoring lessons this will not be the case, I will specialise the lesson to how the student learns whether this is auditory, visual and kinesthetic - if my student doesn't know which category they fit into I will mix and match until we find the perfect fit.
Active recall with be my go to- Flashcards, blurting, questions, self reflection are all some of the things I will incorporate into my lesson plan.
I personally know that bridging the gap between an average grade to a higher one can be difficult but having been through that process myself I can tell you that it is possible!
I also will use a different teaching method than most that I have seen to be more successful. I will ask the student to go over a particular topic or sub-section before they do the tutoring session. This way we can focus on weak areas together and so that I can pinpoint exactly what needs to be done. However if there is a topic that the student is completely lost on then of course I can teach them it from scratch, but the overall dynamic of my lesson will be so that we are focusing on weaker areas whilst consolidating the knowledge and making sure it goes into the students long term memory.
