About Selkie

I am currently on a gap year working and will be heading to Durham University in September to study Law!

I studied English Language, Economics and Politics at A Level and alongside this I have recently completed my Gold D of E award. I would love to be a criminal barrister one day and my interests include cycling, baking and reading!

I pride myself on being a kind and approachable person so no question is ever too silly for me! It is really important to me to build my students confidence over our lessons.

About the lesson

I focus on explaining and understanding exactly what an examiner is looking for in your answers, and how to help them give you the marks (they want to!)

We will do question practice together and go over what went well and what you can improve on.

I will also help you to make a personalised revision schedule and give you revision techniques for outside of lessons!

Lessons will typically be an hour long but I am flexible if you have a preference! Outside of lessons I always adequately prepare myself to ensure sessions are productive and meaningful.

I have tutoring experience. At school I was an English prefect and tutored students in reading and writing ability. As well as this I have tutored two 11+ students who both passed and were admitted to their first choice school. Finally I have experience as a debate mentor, helping students with their style, confidence and content in competitive debate. Outside of this I have significant experience working with children: I currently volunteer for a children’s charity acting as a group leader on residential trips, in the past and I have also been an inspire plus leader for children’s sports camps.

I have a full DBS and police check, safeguarding and first aid training-although I doubt this will be necessary over zoom .

I tutor A level English Language, GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, 11+ exams and any proofreading/essay writing help you may require!
