About David

I graduated from Stuyvesant High School before earning a Mathematics and an Economics degree from the University of Minnesota. I scored 780 on the Math SATs and a perfect 170 on the GRE Quantitative Reasoning exam. I have been tutoring part-time since 2016.

About the lesson

I have helped multiple students improve grades, PSAT scores, SAT scores, and ACT scores.

A typical session focuses on going through math questions step-by-step in order to identify the student's stumbling blocks. Then, we work together to re-frame to the problem areas in ways that the student can understand. We then go over similar questions using the new framing to make sure the student internalizes the solution

I am a sophomore at NYU. David was my math tutor from 6th though 12 grade (2015-2021). David is an incredibly patient and knowledgeable teacher who took as much as time as needed to teach me math concepts and supported me in completing my work. We worked on everything from homework to content reinforcement to enrichment. For example he taught me the first semester of Algebra 2 in the summer prior to the class! I appreciate that he adapted his teaching style to my learning style and pace.

During the pandemic, we were able to work effectively over Zoom. He has a very clear way of initially explaining concepts, and if I didn't understand the first time, he was excellent at coming up with alternative perspectives until I understood the problem. I owe a lot to David and will always be grateful for his support. -Josh S.
