About Doug

I worked professionally in Christian music and church music in the 80s and 90s, and have been teaching piano since 1990. I started out playing by ear, and then learned to read music later, so don’t worry if it takes a while for you to get the hang of it. I worked in pop music from 2002-2015, working as a piano tuner and technician for many top touring and recording artists. In addition to my music background, I have a bachelor's degree in special education, and a master's in instructional technology, so we can take full advantage of distance learning methods and materials.

About the lesson

We will work together to put together a program that is specific to your needs. if you never learned to read music, we will ease into it slowly, and we won’t let that get in the way of your playing and enjoyment. We‘ll use some gentle classical music to ease you into the piano, develop your skills, and build your confidence. From there we can move into rock, pop, jazz, country, and gospel styles. No matter what your experience or background, you’re going to love it.
