About Ishani
I am a STEM-focused high school student with a strong background in math, problem-solving, and analytical thinking, and I genuinely enjoy helping others learn and grow academically. I have taken advanced math and science courses and have experience working with younger students, which has helped me understand both the challenges students face and the strategies that help them succeed. I believe that learning should feel supportive and encouraging, not stressful or intimidating.
As a tutor, I focus on building strong foundations and real understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and explain the reasoning behind each concept so students know why they are doing what they are doing. I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning pace and needs, whether they need concepts explained more slowly, in a different way, or reinforced through extra practice.
I am patient, approachable, and attentive, and I create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them gain confidence in their abilities and develop problem-solving skills they can use independently. I take pride in helping students feel more capable and motivated after each lesson.
I am especially passionate about working with elementary, middle school, and high school students in math and STEM-related subjects, including foundational math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and introductory problem-solving. I aim to be a tutor who students feel comfortable learning with and who parents can trust to support their child’s academic growth.

My approach as a tutor is centered on clarity, confidence, and connection. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, not rushed or judged. As someone who has taken advanced STEM courses and taught younger students, I understand both the academic expectations and the common points where students feel stuck or overwhelmed. My goal is to make concepts feel approachable and logical, not intimidating.
I focus on breaking down topics step by step, making sure the student truly understands the “why” behind each concept before moving forward. I use simple explanations, visual reasoning, and real-world examples to help abstract ideas make sense. If a student is struggling, I adjust my explanation style rather than repeating the same method. I believe there is always more than one way to explain a concept, and finding the right one makes all the difference.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to understand what the student is currently learning in class and where they feel confused or unsure. From there, I review key concepts, work through examples together, and gradually transition to guided practice so the student can apply what they’ve learned with confidence. I encourage students to ask questions freely and explain their thinking out loud, which helps me identify gaps and reinforce understanding. At the end of each lesson, I summarize key takeaways and, if helpful, suggest practice strategies to strengthen skills between sessions.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to combine strong STEM knowledge with patience and adaptability. I don’t assume prior understanding, and I never make students feel bad for asking questions. I’ve worked with students of different ages and learning styles, and I focus not only on solving problems but also on building confidence and independence. I want students to feel capable of tackling problems on their own, not just memorizing steps.
My lessons are best suited for elementary, middle school, and high school students studying math and STEM-related subjects. This includes foundational math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and introductory computer science or logic-based problem solving. I am especially effective with students who feel anxious about math, need concepts explained more clearly, or want structured, supportive guidance.
