About Ahmed

My name is Mr. Seyam, I graduated with bachelor and master’s degree in Engineering from The University of Manchester, I am also a fully qualified secondary school teacher specialised in Mathematics with "Outstanding" PGCE certificate from Liverpool Hope University.
I’m able to teach Mathematics from primary school to degree level. I offer relaxed, friendly and tailored lessons individually or in small groups. I relate complex concepts and fundamental laws to simple,
well-established "prior knowledge" and popular daily applications, building my students' understanding little by little in a suitable pace reaching full in-depth understanding.
I am very supportive of the conceptual understanding of Mathematics and have taught part of the Mastery curriculum in Liverpool College in the beginning of my career, I also employ a variety of instructional techniques, encourage the use of technology such as “GeoGebra” & “Desmos”, also concrete objects like The Oxford University “Cuisenaire rods” are used with younger tutees to deepen their knowledge; this plethora of teaching approaches have a positive impact on my students’ understanding and outcomes.

My students are challenged appropriately, provided with homework so they apply their knowledge independently. Students are not afraid of making mistakes as misconceptions and misunderstandings are taken as golden opportunities for effective teaching and learning.

I am very patient and enjoy helping pupils to learn, my students have fun while they study and are always proud of their progress. I do my best to encourage a genuine interest in topics taught, the ultimate reward for me is to see my students confidently attempting questions and becoming a logical, systematic and critical mathematical thinkers.

I am an enthusiastic teacher who thoroughly enjoys teaching Mathematics and wants to convey the same passion for the subject that my own teachers instilled within me. I plan to do this by making Mathematics more relevant, enjoyable and inclusive with the use of real-life examples and demonstrating relevant applications, this way my students can see links and patterns between the theory and how it is applied in various aspects such as science, finance and medicine.

I also value the idea of engineering moments of cognitive conflicts to reinforce the learning objectives, I allow for independent, paired, grouped and whole class discussion to take place whilst maintaining minimal intervention, i.e. facilitating the learning process.

As learning especially with cognitive conflict can pose emotional stress on some pupils, I provide climate that is always supportive, reassuring, positive, motivating and encouraging, this atmosphere is always a good place to make mistakes where misconceptions and misunderstanding are viewed as golden opportunities for effective teaching and learning.
