About Kiana

I am a Physics tutor with 8 years of experience and a PhD in Theoretical Physics. I have taught over 275 students across all levels from GCSE through to graduate level. My theoretical background means I approach Physics teaching from deep principle rather than surface procedure, and students trained in my studio consistently demonstrate more flexible, principled problem-solving than those prepared through purely procedural approaches. I cover all areas of A-Level and undergraduate Physics with equal depth and I have a particular interest in helping students at the boundary between Physics and Mathematics develop the integrated quantitative thinking both subjects demand. About the lesson

My Physics teaching is organised around a small number of deep, powerful principles — conservation of energy and momentum, the relationship between force and change, the wave-particle duality at the quantum level — and builds all specific content outward from these principles so students develop a coherent, internally consistent understanding of the subject rather than a collection of disconnected topic knowledge. I use energy as the unifying thread across all Physics topics, connecting mechanics to thermodynamics to electromagnetic theory to quantum physics through the fundamental question of where energy is stored, how it is transferred, and why it is always conserved. My approach to problem-solving is methodical and explicit: I require students to write down what they know, what they are trying to find, and which principle connects the two before any algebra begins, because this discipline prevents the most common errors while developing the systematic reasoning that the highest examination marks reward. Experimental Physics receives dedicated attention for students at A-Level and above, including how to design valid experiments, how to process and analyse data correctly, and how to communicate uncertainty — skills that are tested in practical components and often receive insufficient preparation. I use dimensional analysis consistently as a checking tool, teaching students to verify that their answers are physically meaningful before finalising them. My teaching goal is a student who understands Physics well enough to derive results from principles rather than needing to remember every specific formula.
