Math is so much more than just memorizing formulas or just "finding x". It helps teach the brain to think more critically for real-world application. By learning Algebra, Trigonometry, etc., you are teaching your brain how to break down seemingly unsolvable problems into little, easily digestible chunks. Once you learn how to do that, no problem will ever seem impossible or out-of-control for you. Physics teaches us how everything works, from why a car doesn't tip on its side when we turn, to why the movements in my favorite video game look the way they do to how rockets get launched out of our atmosphere. You can't just blindly guess-and-check how the world works. By taking physics we teach our brains to understand the fundamentals of everything.
