About ANANYA
hi, i’m ananya. i teach Hindustani classical music – but not in the old, rigid way. for me, music isn’t just about hitting the right notes, it’s about feeling them. i believe raags carry moods, taal lives in your body, and your voice is a story in motion. i grew up surrounded by music – the kind that echoes in tanpuras, temple bells, and late-night mehfils. now, i try to bring that same honesty into every class i take. we move, we listen, we imagine, we improvise. we don’t chase perfection — we grow into it. this isn’t about becoming the next legend. it’s about finding your own sound, slowly, deeply, truly.

so this isn’t your typical Hindustani classical class. we start with naad yoga – not just singing, but actually feeling the sound. swaras aren’t taught like theory, they’re introduced like little characters. yaman walks in like twilight, bhairav sits still like a sage. we clap, move, tap – taal isn’t a headache here, it’s in the body. sometimes we play rhythms on steel dabbas, sometimes we just sit with a loop and get lost. there’s no “exam” at the end. we have baithaks. we jam. we listen to legends like kishori amonkar or kumar gandharva and wonder how something so raw can be so powerful. everyone’s voice is different. here, we honor that. this class is for those who want to learn Hindustani classical... but differently.
