About Liu

Hi! I’m Michelle I’m a recent ANU law graduate and currently work full-time in the legal field. Outside of work, I enjoy tutoring because I genuinely like helping students learn and seeing them become more confident.

I’m friendly, patient and easy-going, and I like to keep my lessons relaxed and enjoyable. In my spare time, I love hanging out with friends, going hiking and exploring new places. I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and hopefully making learning something they genuinely enjoy.

About the lesson

My teaching techniques and methodology:
I like to make math simple and easy to understand rather than asking students to memorize formulas without understanding why they work. I usually start by identifying what the student finds difficult, explain concepts step by step, and then work through examples together. I encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes, as I think that’s an important part of learning. For school students, I can tailor lessons to their current topics, homework and upcoming assessments.

Typical length of a lesson:
Lessons are usually 1 hour, but I’m happy to arrange longer sessions if needed.

My qualifications and experience:
I am an ANU law graduate with a strong academic background and previous tutoring experience. I achieved 7/7 in IB Mathematics Standard Level (SL). I enjoy working with students in a patient and encouraging way, and I understand that different students may need different approaches to understand the same concept.

Who my lessons are for:
I mainly offer math tutoring for primary and high school students, including IB students. I’m happy to work with students who need help building their fundamentals, keeping up with schoolwork, preparing for tests and exams, or simply becoming more confident in math.
