About Saeed
I am Saeed Saffari, a dedicated Ph.D. student in Economics at Dalhousie University. My academic path is marked by a deep commitment to teaching and a passion for applying technological tools in the field of economics. As a lecturer, I have taught principles of programming in economics, emphasizing Python and R, and guided students in understanding and utilizing these languages to analyze economic data. My approach to teaching is interactive and student-centric, aiming to make complex theoretical concepts accessible and practical. Since 2020, I have been actively teaching hundreds of students, focusing primarily on 'Applied Python in Economics.' My role extends beyond traditional lecturing to conducting various workshops where I delve into the practical applications of Python in economic research. These sessions are designed to cater to a diverse student body, equipping them with crucial skills for real-world economic analysis. Through these efforts, my aim is to empower students, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in the dynamic and evolving field of economics.

In my Applied Python for Economics classes, I focus on practical skills that bridge economic theory with data analysis. The course begins with Python basics, covering data types, loops, functions, and classes, before advancing to data scraping, organization, and analysis using Python libraries like Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
Each lesson is interactive, combining theoretical concepts with hands-on coding exercises. This approach not only teaches Python programming but also how to apply it to real-world economic data and questions. The course is designed for economics students at any level, as well as professionals looking to enhance their data analysis skills.
What sets my classes apart is the integration of my current research in economics, providing students with up-to-date applications and techniques. My goal is to empower students to utilize Python effectively for economic analysis, ensuring they leave the course with both the knowledge and confidence to tackle complex economic data.
