About Benjamin

Hi! My name is Ben, and I’m a high school student with a strong interest in U.S. History, especially AP U.S. History (APUSH). I have already completed the APUSH course myself and currently tutor APUSH students through Schoolhouse. Because I recently went through the course myself, I understand how overwhelming APUSH can feel, from keeping track of important events and connections to preparing for AP-style questions and exams.
I enjoy helping students understand history rather than simply memorize dates and facts. I focus on explaining why events happened, how they connect to one another, and why they are important to the bigger picture of U.S. History. I also understand that different students learn in different ways, so I try to make my lessons clear, organized, and easy to follow while giving students plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students can learn from their mistakes, strengthen their understanding of the material, and become more confident in APUSH. Whether you need help with a specific unit, want to prepare for an upcoming test, or are looking for ongoing support throughout the course, I’m happy to help.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, interactive, and focused on helping students actually understand U.S. History rather than simply memorize information. I begin each lesson with a clear, organized slideshow covering the key events, people, ideas, and connections students need to know. After the lesson, students complete a quiz based on the material we covered, giving them an opportunity to apply what they learned. We then go through the quiz together, discussing the answers, explaining mistakes, and reviewing any concepts that need more attention.
For APUSH students, my lessons can focus on course content as well as AP-style questions and skills, including MCQs, SAQs, DBQs, and LEQs. I can also help students prepare for unit tests and the AP exam. My goal is to make difficult material easier to understand, while giving students an organized way to learn the content, practice it, and identify what they still need to work on.
