About Josephine

EDUCATION: I have RIBA Part 1, 2 and 3 qualifications. Registered in England and the United Kingdom with the Architects Registration Board and Royal Institute Of British Architects. PRACTICE: Full-time practising as a Chartered Architect in London, UK. EXTRA-CURRICULAR: I am passionate about Humanitarian Architecture and community-based projects, I have been involved in several pro-bono projects and Design Competitions over the years. When not thinking about Architecture, I enjoy cooking, playing football and eating some more.

About the lesson

Originally from Sudan, I moved to the UK at 18 years old to fulfil my long-term goal of becoming a registered Architect. My experience with architecture extends beyond the educational level, as I find satisfaction helping upcoming Architects / Professionals achieve their personal best and to get through the challenging and demanding pressures that come with architectural education. My professional journey has encompassed diverse experiences, including working with high-level clients and projects. Additionally, I am passionate about humanitarian architecture and participated in various design competitions and NGO projects. 1. MENTORING AND TEACHING STYLE: Understanding individual needs, strengths and weaknesses are key elements to developing a more confident and competent professional. From experience during my architectural education, confidence and competency will help you work more efficiently, and this will consequently show through an individual’s work. This will be developed during the initial Kick-off conversation tutored to the individual’s need. I provide a free 30-minute lesson so you can decide if you like working with me. 2. CV / PERSONAL STATEMENT AND PORTFOLIO REVIEWS: I can assist with developing and strengthening your personal CV and Portfolio for courses, Job interviews or Design Competition Submissions. Going through this process during my RIBA Part 1, 2 and 3 academic journey, I have developed techniques that do not require expensive software to produce. (Hourly packages can be provided) I am familiar with the educational route to become a registered Architect within England and the UK; therefore I can guide individuals through this process. (Hourly packages can be provided) Additionally, I can provide mentoring workshops at a primary / secondary educational level. I am enhanced DBS checked. (This can be in-person or online- Hourly packages can be provided). 3. GENERAL DESIGN REVIEWS, TUTORING AND WORKSHOPS: Review your work / portfolio and provide guidance, strategies, and ideas to develop a strong storyline based with practical evidence. (This is particularly beneficial ahead of university crits or Design Competition submissions) 4. REPRESENTATION SKILLS: Representation skills can be provided to boost your portfolio. This can include portfolio layouts, graphics and a focus on a particular set of drawings/models to improve the representation and quality. I also introduce students to Model-Making and the basics of software such as Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Microsoft-Packages.
