About Cemil

I am a Master of Architect teaching at a university about mainly artistic and architectural representations while running an architectural project design studio. I also describe myself as an artist. I graduated from İstanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture. I was an Erasmus+ exchange student in Belgium for one year at KU Leuven's Architecture Master's Program. I am a graduate of Teachers High School; therefore, I already got pedagogy skills while in high school. In 2024, I was selected as a recipient of the SaDe Fund (Artist Support Fund), organized by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) in collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz Türk. I coordinated Nesin Art Village's Architecture Workshop Programs in Şirince, Turkey. I participated in many arts and architecture-related workshops, exhibitions and biennials at national and international levels as being in different positions such as architect, coordinator, workshop coordinator, teacher and artist. I have taught many art and architecture classes in the past and continue to lead in this field. I am the owner of the art, architecture and design studio called "yunivorks". I can speak fluent English, and I am just a beginner in French.

About the lesson

I design each course program according to the individual needs, goals, and interests of the learner. My teaching approach is flexible and evolves in line with the student’s expectations, learning pace, and creative direction. I aim to create an open, comfortable, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment where exploration and experimentation are encouraged.

The courses are open to learners of all ages and backgrounds.

My approach emphasizes personalized mentorship tailored to your project level, creative exploration, and idea development, supported by in-depth and constructive critiques. Together, we will engage with design principles, strengthen creative thinking, and refine your visual and verbal presentation skills. Lessons are scheduled flexibly to ensure focused attention and measurable progress—whether your goal is to improve academic performance, develop a portfolio, or expand your design practice. In addition, I am experienced in architectural and design history and theory. This enables me to support the research dimension of your projects by providing relevant precedents, references, and conceptual frameworks that strengthen both design thinking and critical depth.

The learning process may include the following topics, depending on your goals and level:
• Exercises to strengthen visual–cognitive perception and eye–hand coordination
• Freehand drawing: sketching, perspective, three-dimensional thinking, atmospheric and spatial drawing
• Collage making
• Watercolor techniques
• Creativity-enhancing exercises
• Designing and customizing your own drawing and painting tools
• Combining different production media: digital and physical tools
• Visual composition, imaginary drawing, spatial fiction, and expressing ideas through drawing
• Creating visual narratives, storyboards, and drawings based on existing stories or concepts
• Art and architecture exhibitions and critical discussions
• Reviewing and analyzing built architectural works
• The intersection of art and architecture
• A concise overview of art and architectural history
• Creative approaches to architectural presentations and poster design
• Architectural model-making techniques
• Enhancing drawings and renderings using Photoshop
• AutoCAD and SketchUp basics and advanced drawing techniques

I am pleased to have her as a student. She is meticulous and passionate when it comes to learning architecture. She also listens to me carefully and uses the architectural ideas which come up during the courses in a creative way. She has improved herself quite a lot just in 2 weeks in terms of developing architectural design ideas coherently. She attends the classes regularly and gives notifications in advance if she wants to give a break or if she wants to cancel one of the courses.
