About Sharmin

I’m a fifth-year architecture student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli, one of India’s leading technical institutes. Over five years of studio work, juries and late-night submissions, I’ve learned what it takes to turn a rough idea into a design you can defend.

Right now I’m working on my final-year design thesis, a heritage park project in Tamil Nadu. Along the way I’ve worked with spatial analysis and environmental simulation such as wind and noise studies, so I know both the creative side of architecture and the technical side behind it.

Outside architecture, I’m a digital artist. I create detailed mandala artwork in Procreate, which is where my eye for symmetry, line quality and composition comes from. I’m also an English teacher, so I take care to explain things clearly and patiently, without jargon that leaves you more confused than before. I run two YouTube channels as well, so teaching and sharing ideas is something I genuinely enjoy.

About the lesson

I’m a fifth-year architecture student at NIT Trichy, so I’m still in the middle of the thing I teach. I remember exactly which parts confused me in first year, which crits were brutal, and which habits actually saved me before submissions. That’s what I bring to class: not a textbook version of architecture, but the version that works when you’re staring at a blank sheet at 2 a.m.

I don’t believe in lecturing at you. I teach by making you draw, build and think out loud. We start from what you already notice, like why a corridor feels tight or why a courtyard feels calm, and then I give you the vocabulary and method behind it. You leave knowing why a design works, not just how to copy one.
