About Willa
My passion for architecture began with a fascination for spaces and their impact on human experience. I earned a B.Arch in Interior Architecture, which provided a strong foundation in design principles, technical drawing, and material studies. Over 11 years of teaching, I have guided students of all levels in developing creativity, technical skills, and professional habits, helping them grow into confident, innovative designers.
I approach teaching architecture with patience, clarity, and adaptability. Lessons are customised to individual learning styles, combining conceptual discussions, hands-on projects, and real-world examples to make abstract principles tangible. I encourage critical thinking, experimentation, and iterative refinement, empowering students to develop both personal style and structured design methodology.
Outside teaching, I remain active in architecture through design projects, sustainability research, and architectural critiques. This experience allows me to integrate current practices and real-world examples into lessons. Teaching architecture is deeply rewarding because I witness students evolve into capable, independent thinkers and creators. Supporting their creative and technical growth remains the most fulfilling part of my professional journey.

Architecture lessons with me focus on combining creativity, functionality, and technical knowledge into cohesive designs. I emphasise understanding design principles, spatial reasoning, visual communication, and material applications. Beginners start with foundational exercises in sketching, proportion, and simple spatial concepts, while intermediate learners explore more complex projects including building layouts, site analysis, and environmental considerations. Each lesson is interactive and hands-on, with opportunities for experimentation, discussion, and reflection to ensure learners internalise both theoretical and practical knowledge. I encourage students to develop personal style while maintaining logical and structural discipline, fostering both creative expression and technical confidence.
Advanced learners engage in comprehensive projects including sustainable design, urban planning, portfolio preparation, and architectural presentation techniques. I provide iterative feedback on conceptual clarity, design execution, and communication skills, emphasising refinement, professionalism, and innovative thinking. Projects are structured to help learners think critically about space, aesthetics, and functionality, while developing problem-solving and decision-making skills relevant to real-world architecture. My approach ensures a balanced integration of creativity, analytical thinking, and technical skill.
Architecture education with me also nurtures observation, critical thinking, and perseverance. Students gain confidence in expressing ideas visually, presenting concepts effectively, and evaluating design solutions. My goal is to empower learners to become thoughtful, skilled architects capable of producing imaginative and functional work while embracing sustainable and innovative practices.
