About Leah

My passion for architecture developed from a fascination with built environments, spatial dynamics, and how design influences human behaviour. This interest led me to complete a B.Arch and an M.Arch in Urban Design, where I studied both aesthetic and technical aspects of architecture. Over 9 years, I have taught students across levels, helping them gain confidence in their creative expression and technical skills while fostering independence in their design thinking. I teach with patience, clarity, and adaptability, focusing on both conceptual and practical elements of design. Using sketches, step-by-step exercises, discussions, and real-world examples, I help students understand how ideas evolve from concept to final design. Many students who initially struggle develop a strong creative voice and confidence in spatial problem-solving through structured guidance and encouragement. Outside of teaching, I stay engaged with architecture through research, sustainability projects, and design analysis. This allows me to bring current, real-world examples into lessons and inspire students to see the relevance of classroom learning in professional practice. Teaching architecture is deeply fulfilling as I witness learners develop both creative skills and personal confidence.

About the lesson

Architecture becomes meaningful when students understand how creativity and technical precision intersect to create functional and aesthetic spaces. In my lessons, I focus on core design principles, spatial reasoning, conceptual sketching, material knowledge, model building, and portfolio development. I encourage learners to express their creativity while maintaining practical and structural awareness, balancing imaginative ideas with real-world constraints. Lessons are customised to each student’s level. Beginners explore basic sketching techniques, spatial awareness, and proportional design. Intermediate learners focus on model-making, material understanding, conceptual development, and project presentation. Advanced learners refine architectural narratives, design optimisation, portfolio assembly, and professional presentation skills. Each session combines theory, practice, and discussion to ensure students build confidence and clarity in their creative process. Architecture lessons also cultivate critical thinking, observation, and problem-solving skills. Students gain the ability to translate abstract ideas into tangible designs while developing a strong creative identity. My goal is to help learners grow into independent thinkers capable of producing thoughtful, innovative designs that balance artistry and functionality.
