About Charons
Growing up with a fiddle in my hands meant learning tunes by ear long before I ever saw a page of sheet music. Does that sound like a way you might enjoy picking up the violin? My teaching relies on that same oral tradition where ornamentation comes from imitation rather than just reading notes.
I spent 12 years honing this craft and playing on the festival circuit. Kids and self-taught players often find this method removes the typical frustration of starting an instrument. You will find that my approach helps beginners gain confidence quickly. I look forward to hearing your goals for the instrument.

Pacing feels best when we move slowly through the mechanics before adding the speed. Actually, the most important part of my lesson is ignoring the music stand entirely for the first few minutes.
We will cover ABRSM and Trinity exam prep along with orchestral techniques and double stops. My BM Music Performance degree from Belmont University provides the technical grounding for your intonation and rhythm. You will receive free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep your home practice accurate.
These materials bridge the gap between what we do in the room and your individual progress. Reaching your musical milestone is the ultimate target of our time together.
