About Shawn
Welcome students!
My name is Shawn, and I am your mathematics tutor. I am delighted to be here and am looking forward to a great year.
I am a certified mathematics teacher with several years of experience. I am committed to the success of my students and have a strong belief that we can all excel in mathematics. I have designed my lessons to meet your individual needs and learning styles to ensure you get the most out of my tutoring.
My experience as a mathematics teacher has results in an extensive collection of resources and techniques that I draw upon to help you understand the theory and practice of mathematics. I also believe that mathematics is a subject that can be fun to learn. I am passionate about getting to know my students and creating a comfortable learning atmosphere.
I understand the importance of developing consistency in the student/teacher relationship, and I am committed to providing you with consistent, reliable support. I will be available for office hours every week, where we can work through any issues or questions that may arise.
In addition to my teaching background, I also have a strong record of achievement on mathematics competitions. This experience has helped to strengthen my teaching ability and to build a strong understanding of a wide range of mathematical topics.
I can assure you that I will do my utmost to support you in reaching your goals in mathematics. I understand the importance of effective communication, and I am available for any questions or tutoring sessions.

When it comes to private tutoring, I focus on providing high quality, personalized instruction that is tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style. My approach to tutoring involves engaging not only the student’s mind, but also their body and emotions. I believe that when students are exposed to concepts in a supportive, fun and creative environment, they are more likely to succeed.
My lessons focus on math algebra, trigonometric functions and other math concepts that can give students a solid foundation in mathematics. I work to identify and address the root cause of any difficulties a student may experience with these topics. I also make sure that each student is exposed to concepts that will be most beneficial to them.
When teaching math algebra and trigonometric functions, I often start by showing students the main principles, and then work with them to apply those concepts to solve equations and problems. I may have students develop their own practice problems, so they can better understand the concepts. I may also have students work together in groups, or use games and activities to help promote their understanding. I find this approach helps students explore and discover the concepts for themselves, as well as better engage with the material.
I also believe in keeping lessons varied, flexible and interesting. I may use manipulatives, music, video clips, stories or other creative methods to help engage each student. I like to focus on the process and allow students to work at their own pace, which I find helps to increase their confidence.
By working with students in this way, I find that math takes on a new meaning and that students are more able to explore their own, creative approaches to the subject. My aim is to help students become confident and independent learners, developers and problem-solvers.
Overall, I believe that my approach to math algebra and trigonometric functions can provide students with a great foundation of knowledge, and help them succeed in the classroom and beyond.
