About Charowy
Picking up a violin in my early days felt like starting a conversation I never wanted to end. You might be searching for someone who treats music as a living language rather than just a series of dots on a page.
My training at Belmont University gave me the technical foundation, but my years playing on the festival circuit taught me that tunes are meant to be heard and felt. I have 12 years of experience guiding students ranging from absolute beginners drawn to bluegrass to classical players needing to loosen up their style. Teaching remains the best part of my week.
My method centers on oral tradition where ornamentation is picked up by listening and imitating. You deserve an instructor who listens as much as they play. I focus heavily on intonation, vibrato, and left hand agility to ensure you sound clear.
My approach works because it is rooted in the joy of playing by ear. I know exactly how to guide you toward musical freedom.

Picture the warm hum of a wooden instrument vibrating against your collarbone as we match a melody together by ear. You might be an intermediate player struggling with bowing technique or a student prepping for ABRSM or Trinity grade exams. I use my Belmont University degree to help you master posture and hold while keeping the joy of folk music alive. We tackle sight reading and music theory through practical application so that you understand the mechanics behind every note you play.
You will find that my lessons feel less like a chore and more like a jam session in your living room. We refine your ear training alongside your dexterity to make sure your technique supports your artistic choices. Advanced learners often come to me to smooth out technical hurdles that hold them back from full expression. I provide the tools you need to build a solid habit of daily practice.
My goal is for you to walk away from our time together feeling like a more capable musician. We will reach your musical destination together.
