About August
Stories from my great-grandfather, a university professor of Russian History, a Kingfisher History Encyclopedia from my grandfather for my fourth Christmas, and learning to read that book (and many more) with my grandmothers cultivated a lifelong passion for learning history. This section is not to wow you with my degrees or my claims about improving your child's grades or interest in the subject. It is, however, to illustrate that my experiences will foster the same desire to succeed and to enjoy History in your child/children. My academic journey has not always been smooth sailing. I was the child who knew all the facts but could not articulate them into a coherent and compelling piece of work. I struggled with this until my undergraduate degree, and I cannot emphasize how much this compromised my love of History. This frustration stemmed from routinely being told about my 'potential', which always seemed out of reach; however, my first tutor helped me realize this potential and produce "history" essays rather than history-adjacent essays. The experiences I had with that tutor have inspired me to want to help other people realize their potential and unlock their love for History, be they high schoolers looking to get a grade, college undergraduates looking to refine their existing talent, or those not in education who are seeking a greater historical literacy so that they can better understand events in the news.

As a history tutor, I focus on building critical thinking, strong writing skills, and deep historical understanding. I work with high school (AP, IB, honors), college, and university-level students, specializing in Modern Middle Eastern History and modern global history more broadly. Each session is tailored to the student’s goals. A typical lesson includes a quick review, a focused exploration of key themes or sources, and active discussion to develop clear, evidence-based arguments. We finish with actionable next steps—whether that’s outlining an essay, analyzing a document, or preparing for an upcoming test or paper. My approach combines the academic rigor of my education at UCL and LSE—two of the world's top universities—with an accessible, engaging teaching style. I help students go beyond memorizing facts to think like historians: questioning narratives, evaluating sources, and crafting compelling arguments. What sets me apart is my ability to connect complex historical ideas to students’ coursework while building confidence and clarity. Whether you're prepping for AP exams, college assignments, or just want to strengthen your history skills, I offer thoughtful, personalized guidance to help you succeed.
