About Daya

I'm an artist and art educator with a thriving practice in sculpture, installation, drawing and painting. I've exhibited locally and internationally and have recently completed my Fine Art MA from the Slade School of Art with distinction. As a teacher, I love the challenge of extracting the best from my students. I love the interactions with my students because they allow me to constantly re-examine my artistic conceptions, viewing them afresh through the eyes of my students.

About the lesson

My teaching approach puts my students at the centre of my lessons, tailoring the process to best promote your artistic development. While with beginners my teaching focuses on a foundation of techniques, methods and material qualities, with more experienced students we shall delve into means of personal expression, exploring your interests and honing your visual language and style. With extensive teaching experience of over 9 years, a BA in Arts Education and a MA in Fine Art sculpture, I have taught all levels - from undergrad fine art, to adult beginner courses and workshops, to children in schools, museums and galleries. I teach drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting, collage and sculpture. I also do preparations for art school applications, focusing on building a portfolio of works, writing statements and preparing you for interviews. I was accepted to several world leading art universities throughout the UK, including RCA, Goldsmiths and Slade, and was fortunate enough to pick and choose where to study. I'm happy to pass on to others the skills that opened doors for me. A typical adult lesson spans 2 hours, and a children's lesson 1.15 hr. If you have friends that are also looking to study art I do teach in group, at a modified hourly rate. Whether you want to learn to draw realistically, to cast moulds, or to paint landscapes, or develop your artistic interests at large, let's talk about what interests you in order to build the best lessons for you.
