About Laura

I am a native Spanish Speaker, from Colombia. I moved to the United States in 2022. I am creative and artistic, and I have done several creative projects, some with grants support, with fun and compromise. My experience working with children has taught me about the importance of flexibility and creativity when tutoring or giving a lesson. I love teaching and helping others to accomplish their goals, and I would love to help you!

About the lesson

Hello! I am Laura, I am from Colombia. I am an artist and journalist, with a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Medellín, Colombia). I offer two kinds of tutoring: in Art and in Spanish. Or, even better, we can combine both subjects, Arts and Spanish, in the same lesson.

I have experience in writing journalistic articles for Colombian magazines, in Spanish. And I can help you improve your Spanish to achieve fluency in oral and written communication. As an artist, I have taken fine art classes since my childhood, attended Art School in College for a while, and I have knowledge in fundamental exercises and elements for a good artwork. I can teach drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor, printmaking and creative arts and crafts. Also I have been awarded with art grants that have made it possible for me to pursue my artistic career and I would love to help you to achieve your goals as well. I can help you to design a solid, attractive and coherent portfolio of your art and to write efficient art grant applications.

I love working with kids, but I can also work with young people and adults. My ideal lesson would be teaching Art and Spanish to children. I work part time at the YMCA's Afterschool program and I am available to tutor other children in one-on-one classes on weekdays and Saturdays in the morning.
