About Deni
I have been immersed in American Sign Language since birth—it was the primary language in my home from the very beginning. Growing up in a signing household has given me invaluable real-world experience and a deep understanding of Deaf culture, both of which shape how I teach today. I believe that the best way to learn ASL is through real-life experiences, so I love incorporating hands-on learning and interactive activities. Let’s go on an adventure together and make learning ASL both meaningful and fun!

Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by my profile. My name is Deni, and I’ve been teaching American Sign Language since 2005. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of helping so many wonderful students learn ASL, build confidence, and truly connect with this beautiful language and the Deaf community. I have firsthand experience since my sibling has been deaf since birth. I've had the privilege of being trained and mentored by all types of masters in the ASL community. Their guidance shaped the way I teach today—with patience, creativity, and a deep respect for the language and culture. Many of my students have gone on to become interpreters, ASL and Deaf education teachers, and leaders in Deaf ministry. One of my proudest moments was getting to teach alongside one of my former students—it’s incredible to see how far they’ve come! My lessons are interactive, encouraging, and focused on helping you feel comfortable while learning. I truly believe that language learning should be fun and hands-on, especially with ASL, since it’s such a visual and expressive form of communication. Between sessions, I encourage my students to keep practicing and exploring ASL in daily life. It’s important to remember that ASL doesn’t follow English grammar—it has its own unique rhythm, structure, and about 50% of it comes from nonmanual signals like facial expressions and body movement.
