About Jaycelyn
Hello! My name is Jaycelyn, and I’m a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a background in Kinesiology and Health. I’ve worked with students of all ages in both academic and athletic settings, and I’m passionate about helping young learners feel confident and capable in math and algebra. My experience as both a tutor and coach has taught me how to connect with students, adapt to different learning styles, and create a safe space where they can ask questions and grow. I approach every session with patience, structure, and encouragement, making sure students understand the “why” behind the math—not just how to get the answer. You can count on me to be reliable, prepared, and professional in every session. Whether your student is just starting with math or preparing for algebra, I’m here to support their journey with care and commitment.

As a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Kinesiology and Health, I bring both academic knowledge and hands-on experience to my tutoring sessions. I specialize in teaching math and algebra to elementary through high school students, helping them build confidence, master foundational concepts, and develop strong problem-solving skills.
My teaching approach is supportive, structured, and student-focused. I begin each lesson by reviewing what the student already knows, identifying any gaps or confusion, and then building on that knowledge with clear explanations, interactive examples, and guided practice. I adjust my pace and style based on each student’s learning needs—whether they need extra support with homework or want to strengthen their skills ahead of class.
A typical session includes a warm-up activity, a quick review of prior topics, introduction of a new concept, and plenty of practice problems with real-time feedback. I also encourage students to ask questions and explain their thinking, which helps reinforce learning and builds independent study skills.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background in coaching and mentoring. I’ve worked with youth in both academic and athletic settings, so I know how to create a positive, motivating environment where students feel encouraged to try, even when the material gets challenging.
