About Kendra
Absolute beginners through advanced learners often visit me for help. I admit that I still struggle to read music faster than I can hear it.
Music was everywhere in the Blue Ridge when I was growing up. I spent my youth at pickin parties learning tunes from older players. My Certificate in Traditional Music from the Old Town School of Folk Music supports my 6 years of experience. I focus on intonation, vibrato, and bowing technique.
My left hand agility and posture help students perform better. Do you want to learn music that actually lives in your ears?

Sitting down to play often starts with a quiet hum to find the pitch. I confess that my metronome is frequently ignored in favor of the natural groove. We build skills through ear training and sight reading. Posture and hold are addressed right at the start.
Intonation, vibrato, and bowing technique follow in order. Music theory makes sense once you hear it. Grade exam prep is available for ABRSM or Trinity students. These sessions are simple.
Just bring your instrument and a willingness to listen. Let us start playing soon.
