I begin teaching the program by taking the student through the fundamentals so they become familiar with the interface and basic operations. This allows the student to gain an understanding of the program and begin drawing.
After the fundamentals are covered, I like to use a working example to guide the student through more complex operations. A project worked on in the student's school is usually the best approach.
