About Ben
I am a composer, pianist and producer who has written for professional ensembles in the UK and US, composed soundtracks for award-winning films and video games, arranged for jazz big bands, and produced and recorded for pop musicians. I graduated from Cambridge University with a Distinction in Music Composition and offer lessons in music history, theory, composition, songwriting, and piano (classical and jazz).

I specialise in teaching mainly beginner to intermediate level students, but welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds! My lessons are informative but also light-hearted and engaging, and I always aim to tailor the content to the student's personal interests, whether that be prepping for an exam or simply learning for fun. I like to discuss what lesson format works best with my students. Sometimes this involves setting weekly exercises to bring for discussion and other times the format is more flexible. As a recent graduate I can offer guidance for GCSE or A-Level students looking to study music at university, for example, help with personal statements, advice for interviews or general info about studying music at uni! I look forward to meeting you!

Ben is an extremely patient in his teaching, he always has time to explain any questions and is happy to revisit parts of songs that weren’t quite right. I have grown much more confident in my singing through working with Ben due to his supportive manner.
