About Liadain

Trained originally as a ballet dancer, I began my career at the Cannes Jeune Ballet. From performing neo-classical repertoire in France, I went on to work for opera companies such as; Opera Royal de Wallonie, Opera Ireland, Wexford Opera Festival as well as for independent choreographers in smaller scale more contemporary work. Choreographing since 2009, my work, solo/ensemble, has been performed nationally/ internationally. Awarded 'Best Performer' at Dublin Fringe '15, for my solo work 'Liminal', which toured into '17. In '18 I was invited to premiere new work 'On A Tangent', at the 24th edition of Kalamata's International Dance Festival. Alongside this I had decided to pursue an MA at the University of Arts, Berlin in Solo/Dance/Authorship - completed in '19. In tandem with my performance work/ artistic research I have steadily taught children as well as adults throughout the years.

About the lesson

Each group or individual I teach is unique so I try to tailor my classes to suit their needs and desires. As a dancer, I approach the use of the body similar to that of a musician with their instrument. I encourage a playful approach to learning to dance, as it ought to be enjoyable, this process of finding out different ways in which one may enhance their movements, as they swing, stomp and/or lull to the score of the chosen music. Naturally, I give attention to warming up and cooling down - intrinsic to the nature of dancing. Overall I try to incorporate fun metaphors within my explanations in order to make the information more fun and accessible to the student(s). My hope, as a tutor, is to transmit and share a very vivid kind of joy that can be found through the regular practice of dancing as a part of our lives.

According to the distance I may be required to travel, my travel rates may oscillate. Also, I would incur a cancellation fee of half the class' cost should the cancellation not be made at least 48 hours before the class is due to begin.
