About Surya S

Hello! I’m a high school student with years of experience in speech, debate, and creative writing. I’ve placed in multiple writing competitions and advanced to finals and octofinals in top speech tournaments, such as the ASU Invitational and CFL 3. I have analyzed real life cases to independently write a judicial opinion for the final project of the pre-law course at Georgetown. I'd like to think that I'm unique in that I want to make the English space feel less confined, and more personal. Interpretations and text analysis are almost never the same from person to person, and as a tutor, I am here to help students tie that personal bow on top of their work. Whether it's essays, speeches, or proofreading, I'm here to help you express your ideas with pride and flawless delivery.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I am friendly and organized—I help students brainstorm ideas, organize their thoughts, and polish their analytical skills through consistency and detail-oriented thinking. I work best with middle and high school students looking to improve their essays, English assignments, speeches, or proofreading skills.

Whether it’s a persuasive essay, English assignment, speech, or grammar review, I focus on the conveyance of unique ideas through unique approaches, shifting writing from something repetitive to something personal to you. I use techniques from speech and debate to really strengthen my students' communication skills. I am most comfortable working with middle and early high school students, although I am open to teaching other age groups as well.
