I’ve refined my tutoring approach from the hundreds of students I have taught during my academic career. My approach to tutoring borrows from the Socratic approach of a question-centric form of teaching. A serious emphasis is placed on the structure and content of the exam in question. I structure my tutorials so that relevant past exam questions are always an integral part of learning. Here is what my former LSE students have said, via anonymous surveys: “Alba is a great teacher: she is always very prepared and knowledgeable and manages to communicate complicated topics in a clear and effective way. Her summaries and strategies to tackle questions are very valuable.” “Clear explanations. So very clearly knows exactly what she’s doing. One of the best teachers I’ve ever had.” “I get more value from Alba than from either lecturer I’ve had in the year. She explains things so clearly, excellent intuition, well-structured classes. An absolute ace teacher.” “She emails and provides very useful handouts at the end of the class that are based on the models studied. They summarise what is covered in the class and lecturer in a very concise way and have been very useful for revision. She has also provided us with the techniques and methods we should use to approach exam style questions.” “She is very experienced with the subject and knows how to explain things mathematically and conceptually.” “She is very structured and precise, going through things step by step for us to have complete understanding! :)” “She makes her own summary for each model that we have to study this term and that clarifies some issue I have with the lecture slides.” “She was the only class teacher that explained every element in the models while connecting them to real life examples. The way she teaches is very easy to follow and extremely intuitive. Her notes on every model were extremely helpful!”
