About Nimai

Nimai Walcott is an internationally recognised music educator, composer, and producer with over 25 years of experience inspiring students of all abilities and ages. Winner of the prestigious ABRSM Music Teacher of the Year (2023) and Director of the London Music and Dance Academy (MADA), Nimai is celebrated for his innovative, adaptable teaching methods and outstanding unbeaten record of success, including a 100% ABRSM pass rate. A multi-instrumentalist and expert in music theory, Nimai not only teaches piano but also violin, cello, guitar, flute, clarinet, drums, and music technology. He is also the founder of a symphonic orchestra and an advocate for using music education to develop life skills and emotional resilience. Drawing from years spent living in India, Nimai brings a rich cultural perspective to his teaching, blending classical, Eastern, and contemporary music influences to create a truly unique learning experience. In addition to his musical achievements, Nimai holds a degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology, reflecting his interdisciplinary expertise and passion for learning. My teaching approach is highly adaptable and student-centred, designed to cater to individual learning abilities, goals, and interests. I integrate life skills into my lessons, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and resilience. I use a combination of: Personalised lesson plans tailored to each student's strengths and areas for improvement. A multi-genre approach that incorporates classical, contemporary, and Eastern music styles, allowing students to experience a wide variety of musical influences. Practical applications of music theory and technique** to build a deep understanding of music. Incorporation of technology through music production tools and software, introducing students to modern applications of their craft. Holistic support, particularly for students with special needs, ensuring an inclusive and empowering experience for all learners. My ultimate goal is to inspire and nurture a lifelong love for music. Many of my students go on to become teachers themselves, with several joining London Music and Dance Academy (MADA) as part of our dedicated team, further contributing to our shared mission of advancing music education. Typical Lesson Length Lessons typically last 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the student's age, level, and focus areas. For younger students, shorter, engaging sessions ensure focus and retention, while older or advanced students benefit from extended lessons for in-depth exploration of technique and repertoire.
