About Jessie

I am a classically trained soprano based in E1 and I also play piano. Apart from performing, I give piano and singing lessons and also conduct choirs from time to time. I have accompanied my students for ABRSM exams and I also have experiences in preparing them for entering ABRSM graded exam. I was the Chinese translator for the AB Theory (Grade 1 to 5). Apart from Master in Opera (Conservatori Liceu, Barcelona) and Master of Music (Trinity Laban, London), I have been leading choirs for 3 years (both high school choir and adult female choir), and have given group singing lessons too. In my lessons I focus a lot of singing technique as I believe everyone can sing if they have learnt the way to use the voice properly. In terms of musical styles, my repertoire includes Classical, Opera and Musical Theatre. In January 2017, I have a Chinese Art Songs workshop in Santiago de Chile, working with some local young singers. Lately in February 2018 I attended the outreach skills training with Aix-en Provence Festival in France, which was a programme focusing on training music workshop leaders. I sing regularly in an opera restaurant in London, also I travel to give concerts in Germany and Italy often. Apart from Singing, I am also a piano teacher and I am always happy to teach theory. I have a piano at my place and I give classes from home. I can also travel to you if you have a keyboard at home. You can look for me on youtube and I have got some videos there which you can have a look:) Students can work towards Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations or sing for fun and confidence building. I took the LTCL performance diploma in 2010 and have been preparing my students for diploma exams too.

About the lesson

One of the foundations of voice work lies in building confidence, apart from that I also pay great attention to vocal health. I always start my lessons with vocal exercises in order to develop my students' technique. In my lessons I cover topics from vocal technique, musicianship to performance skills, including music reading, ear training, breath management, postures, diction, interpretation and styles. My teaching repertoire ranges from musical theatre, folk songs and art songs to opera.
