About Katherine
My name is Kate, I am a 30-year-old Aussie singer trained in voice, performance and secondary education. I also play guitar and piano. I have a bachelor degree in contemporary singing from the University of Newcastle (2017), and a Master's in Teaching (Secondary) majoring in Music (2020). I have taught privately and in high schools for many years, having run many gig nights, school productions evenings, HSC performances, choirs and so on. I am also a singer/songwriter myself having a love for writing melancholy folk-inspired music. On top of normal gigs as a musician, I spent 6 years as a lead performer at a small Interactive, Cabaret, dinner theatre restaurant. I am passionate about music, singing and education, and I believe that music is a link to a deep part of ourselves that is worth exploring and letting out.

Your lesson will be tailored to your wants and needs. Everyone comes to singing for different reasons! There will always be a focus on technique and vocal health. I also love teaching music theory where wanted or needed. The most important part of my teaching philosophy is that you are growing to love and be comfortable with your instrument. I love specializing with people who are just discovering their passion and want the building blocks to beginning. Or, maybe you have already begun and need someone to help push on forward with technique and repertoire! I am here and would love to help!
