About Ashley
I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education at the University of New Brunswick, where I have maintained a 4.2 GPA and earned a place on the Dean’s List. My studies have included literacy development, inclusive education, Indigenous perspectives in education, and supporting children with diverse learning needs.
I am also completing coursework in International Baccalaureate (IB) education, which has strengthened my interest in inquiry-based, student-centered learning. I enjoy helping children explore ideas through questions, curiosity, hands-on experiences, and connections to the world around them rather than relying only on traditional worksheets and memorization.
My education has also emphasized the importance of culture, identity, community, and different ways of knowing and learning. I value culturally respectful learning and believe that a child’s experiences, background, interests, and strengths should be part of their education.
I have experience providing individualized learning through homeschooling, as well as a previous background in support work and leadership. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, building strong relationships, and recognizing that every learner is different.
I especially enjoy working with elementary-aged children and helping them become more confident learners. I want children to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace while receiving the support and encouragement they need to make meaningful progress.

I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and interested in what they are doing. My approach is patient, flexible, and based on the individual child rather than using the exact same method for everyone.
I like to get to know each child’s strengths, interests, and areas where they may need extra support, and then build sessions around those needs. Depending on the child, a session might include reading together, games, hands-on activities, conversation, visual supports, or help with schoolwork. With younger children especially, I believe learning should be engaging and can often happen through play rather than worksheets.
I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education at the University of New Brunswick, where my studies have included literacy, inclusive education, and supporting diverse learners. I also have experience with homeschooling and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
My tutoring is best suited for elementary-aged children who need support with early literacy and reading, English language development, homework, school readiness, or general learning support. I am also happy to work with families to find an approach that works well for their individual child.
