About Larry
"My teaching approach is based on creativity, confidence, and practical music making. I welcome beginners, experienced players, and anyone who wants to explore new styles of violin. Every lesson is adjusted to match your interests and musical goals.
We work on improvisation in jazz, folk, and world music while learning how to create melodies over chord changes. I also teach ear training, rhythm development, phrasing, chord awareness, scales, bow control, tone production, and expressive performance. These skills help students become flexible musicians who can perform in many different musical settings.
For example, I often play a simple chord progression and encourage students to create their own melody instead of reading from sheet music. This helps build confidence and encourages natural musical thinking. Regular feedback helps students understand what works well and where they can continue improving.
I also support students who perform in worship groups as well as those preparing for musical theater productions where expressive playing is important. My lessons encourage musical intuition, creativity, and steady progress with every practice session. Over time, you will feel comfortable creating your own musical ideas instead of depending only on written notes. Together, we will unlock your natural ability to improvise and bring out the spirit of a confident jazz or folk fiddler."

I have been teaching violin for over 6 years, and I enjoy showing students that the instrument can do much more than traditional classical music. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a Violin Focus. My lessons encourage creativity while building strong technical skills.
I enjoy exploring crossover styles such as Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop Strings, and World Music with my students. I also use improvisation, looping pedals, and live performance effects to make every session exciting and practical. One student started by learning simple melodies and later performed a full layered piece using a looping pedal during a local music event.
I help students write their own solos, adapt popular songs for violin, and experiment with different tones and textures. Every lesson is designed to encourage original ideas while strengthening musical confidence. I believe learning becomes more meaningful when students create music that reflects their own style.
The violin is an instrument with endless creative possibilities. I would love to help you explore new sounds, new ideas, and modern performance techniques. Together, we can take your violin playing beyond tradition with creativity and the exciting possibilities of today's music technology.
