About Barrett
By day, I work as a data scientist, but tutoring has become a passion alongside my main job. Between that and my time as a TA, I discovered how much I genuinely love working with students and watching concepts click for them. I'm also happy to help with the college admissions process, from application strategy to essay support. Outside of work, you can usually find me surfing, watching a soccer match, or playing a game of chess. I also share my home with my Australian Shepherd, Otis, who keeps me active and laughing on my days off. I believe a good work-life balance helps me show up to every session with patience, energy, and focus, something I hope reflects in how I work with my students.

Hello! My name is Barrett. I hold a Master's degree in Biostatistics from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor's in Statistics from UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), where I also gained valuable experience as a teaching assistant for upper-level statistics courses.
With over two years of tutoring experience, I specialize in SAT and ACT Math, Calculus, and Statistics.I’ve been tutoring for over two years, and it’s honestly one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. During that time, I’ve worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, helping many of them raise their SAT scores from around 1000 to 1400 in just a few months as well as have had students go from 1400 to 1550s. Watching their progress and confidence grow week by week is what keeps me passionate about teaching.
I love working with students to find the study methods and problem-solving strategies that really click for them. Everyone learns a little differently, so I try to make my lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each person’s goals and strengths. Whether it’s breaking down tricky math concepts, mastering test-taking strategies, or building consistency through practice, I focus on helping students feel motivated and capable every step of the way.
