About Gontse
I am a BCom Law student who has maintained a steady A level in Afrikaans First Additional Language. I have previously tutored a total average of 10 learners informally and most of them seemed to have understood the material better and have greatly improved not only in speaking butvin reading and writing as well. My own practical experience with Afrikaans is that it is my home language and I watch/read alot of shows/movies in Afrikaans. This enables me to explain more clearly to my students and to use practical examples so that my students are able to grasp the concepts quicker. It is safe to say that with the contents studied in class along with my tutoring the learner will be able to understand, recall and apply what they have learnt.

During my informal tutoring I usually gave lessons to students from grade 8-12. My teaching method is based in the direct method. It involves the student in both speaking and listening to Afrikaans in realistic situations. I encourage my learners to think in Afrikaans rather than to translate it. This gives the student the ability to communicate quickly because they are encouraged to be creative. My lesson structure includes providing the students with appropriate, interesting material to read, comprehension to focus on reading for meaning, grammar to teach and revise language structure and spelling to assist in improving writing.
