About Kristy
I am a qualified, professional and dedicated teacher with over 16 years' experience. I provide targeted, tailored learning plans and one-to-one teaching that engages children in learning in the manner that best suits their needs. Learn more about me at (concealed information) I specialise in teaching and supporting learners with a variety of learning profiles including students with neurological disorders and complex communication needs such as Cerebral Palsy; neurodiverse students with dyscalculia, dyspraxia, ADHD, speech, language and communication needs, or sensory processing needs; and neurotypical children with difficulties in literacy and mathematics. I have taught in mainstream, special needs and home schools both in Australia and the U.K, including a Conductive Education centre for children with Cerebral Palsy and a school for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties. I have designed and written bespoke, holistic learner-specific curricula for special needs schools and home schools and helped to develop a new school for children with speech, language and communication needs. My goal is to establish a strong foundation of skills, knowledge and confidence to ensure that the building blocks for your child’s future learning are secure. I then extend to further these foundations to help enable your child to become a lifelong, independent learner and reach their full potential.

I offer bespoke, specialised education tailored to suit each student’s needs. I am dedicated to ensuring that programmes and sessions are catered to each student’s particular strengths and areas of development so that they are given the appropriate individualised support to reach their full potential in life. I am up-to-date with the latest curriculum and methods of learning. I ensure programmes and sessions are carefully planned and organised so that pupils feel appropriately challenged yet supported. I work collaboratively with families and value strong communication between teacher, student and parent. I believe that developing a good relationship with students is paramount to their success. Therefore I aim to create a happy, safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued and inspired to learn. I believe that warm, approachable, patient and understanding teachers give students the confidence to thrive. My sessions always start with the learner and his/her strengths in order to build confidence and self-esteem. I discuss goals with the learner and parents, assess to check for any missing gaps and then carefully plan and design activities that build upon knowledge. I employ a range of teaching strategies including multi-sensory learning and practical-based sessions that are fun and engaging. This allows children to really understand what they are learning and why, and the relationships between new facts and previous learning. Concepts that are deemed ‘too difficult’ at school are broken down into small manageable steps in order for students to gain a sense of achievement. I encourage children to generate their own information, organise that information, make sense of what they have collected, and communicate their understanding (for example by making a rule or telling me a pattern). This fosters independence, retention and is the most powerful way for children to learn things for themselves. I review progress with children and parents and give advice on practical strategies in order to support learners in the home.

Perfect! I was very impressed with Kristy’s lesson and found her to be very engaging and patient. I can’t wait for my son to work with her in the near future.
