About Grace
Hi! I’m Grace, a bilingual Japanese-American tutor with a deep connection to both Japanese and American culture. I speak English and Japanese fluently and love helping others discover the Japanese language in a way that feels natural, practical, and fun.
I have experience living and spending significant time in Japan, giving me firsthand knowledge of everyday Japanese language and culture—not just what you find in a textbook. I especially enjoy teaching students how Japanese is actually spoken and used in real life.
I work with children, teenagers, and adults at all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced learners. I’m patient, encouraging, and happy to adapt lessons to each student’s personality, interests, and goals.

Hi! I’m Grace, a bilingual Japanese-American tutor who grew up with both Japanese and American cultures. I offer personalized Japanese lessons designed to make learning practical, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable.
**My teaching approach**
I focus on helping students actually use Japanese, rather than simply memorizing vocabulary and grammar. Depending on your goals and level, lessons can include conversation practice, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and Japanese culture.
I adapt every lesson to the individual student. Whether you are starting from zero, already studying Japanese, preparing for a trip to Japan, or want to become more comfortable speaking, we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.
What a typical lesson looks like
A lesson may begin with a quick review of what we learned previously, followed by new vocabulary or grammar. We’ll then practice using what you learned through conversation, exercises, reading, or real-life scenarios.
For younger students, I incorporate fun activities and age-appropriate materials to keep lessons engaging and interactive.

As a bilingual Japanese-American, I understand both Japanese and American perspectives. I can explain Japanese concepts in a way that makes sense to English speakers while also helping students understand the cultural context behind the language.
