About Andy
I'm Andy and I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering with a specialization in Bioinformatics. For most of my undergraduate career I conducted research as an intern, then later as an assistant bioinformatic researcher, at the UCSD Cancer Research Center. I researched and founded novel discoveries in evolutionary biology, skin diseases, and oncology/cancer. As soon as I graduated in 2013, I was hired by Illumina, the leading DNA-sequencing company, as a Bioinformatic Software Engineer where I gained professional industry experience using mostly Python, C#, and Java (also PostgreSQL and continuous integration software tools) working on both in-house and client-facing software. I've also had various other projects and start-up companies that are currently successful, ongoing, and failed ventures. I am very confident in my skills as a tutor in Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics (at both lower and upper-division levels for each subject). I am also well-versed in Cellular Biology, Genetics, and Chemistry.
