About Halle

I’m currently in the process of completing my Biology degree and have recently finished my third year of study. Throughout university, I have developed a strong understanding of biology and chemistry, as well as physics and math.

As a tutor, my goal is to make science fun, exciting, and more approachable, instead of intimidating. I understand that scientific subjects can be quite overwhelming and difficult to understand, so I focus on making sure students understand how to approach problems and how to study to ensure their success. I love when students ask questions, and try their best to use critical thinking skills to understand hard problems. I make it a goal to make them comfortable, even if they are struggling, so that they can build confidence in their abilities.

I do my best to create a very supportive and professional learning atmosphere, so that students feel welcome to be themselves, make mistakes, and still feel well-supported despite varying outcomes. Students can take their learning at their own pace with the support of someone who understands what they are going through. Whether you need help understanding class content, homework problems, or how to improve study habits, I am committed to helping you succeed and feel more confident in your academic journey.

About the lesson

I like to teach my students
->how new vocabulary connects with difficult concepts
->how to predict outcomes prior to explanation
->by normalizing confusion and building their confidence
->effective science study methods (practice problems, spaced repetition)
->by assisting them with homework questions, but in a way that is beneficial to their individual learning

Typically, I set up appointments with students and they tell me what it is they are struggling with (whether that be homework problems, a concept, etc.), and I do my best to assist them.

As a tutor, I take my students' learning seriously. I make sure that they are getting the most out of the time they have with me.

The lessons are for individuals from middle to high school. I specialize in biology and chemistry. I have experience in physics as well. Anyone struggling with these subjects and would benefit from someone who has gone through high school and university-level science can feel free to reach out.
