About Sophia
While I like to keep sessions relaxed and approachable, I take my role as a tutor seriously and always come prepared. Having performed strongly in both AP Chemistry and my general chemistry college courses, I’ve built a solid understanding of the material and the strategies needed to succeed. I strive to create a respectful, organized learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves. Students can feel confident knowing they are learning from someone who understands the content deeply and explains it clearly and effectively.

My teaching style focuses on structured, step-by-step clarity to make complex chemistry concepts feel manageable and approachable. I break ideas into clear explanations, logical sequences, and practical examples, beginning with the big picture before moving into guided examples, practice problems, and a concise recap. I actively engage students by asking strategic “why” and “how” questions to strengthen critical thinking rather than memorization. Because I am also a student, I understand the challenges learners face and use methods that I’ve personally found effective. I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where questions are always welcome and mistakes are viewed as opportunities to grow. My lessons are designed for students in entry-level high school chemistry, AP Chemistry, or introductory college chemistry who want to build confidence and truly understand the material.
