About Nila

Hello! My name is Nila and I'm a 22-year-old recent alumna of the University of Massachusetts Boston, where I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. I graduated with honors in Biology and from the Honors College. I earned magna cum laude despite undergoing intensive leukemia treatment during my senior year.
During my time here, I was a supplemental instructor for the Genetics course (BIOL252/254). I offered review sessions and made extensive practice exams prior to the actual exams. I have worked in two labs. I started in the lab of neurogenomics and epigenetics in April 2023 where I wrote my thesis on the modulation of mitochondrial protein coding genes by androgens. In the fall of 2024, I began working at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School in the Genetics Division through an undergraduate fellowship program. Here, I studied several genes and long non-coding RNAs in organoid models; the following experiments revealed strong transcriptomic convergence. I am co-authored on a manuscript awaiting approval from this project and have been offered continuation of my position. I was an English tutor and was one of four students selected to be part of a curriculum redesign committee in high school. Whether you're in high school or college, I'm happy to tutor and adjust lessons to your needs.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my primary goal is to help you with what you are struggling with, identify potential weak points before they become bad habits, and find how to best prepare you for your goals. I prefer planning my lessons in advance, but I can be flexible for what you need at that time. Even as a high school English tutor for Ukrainian students, I redesigned lesson plans (per students' requests) I was given to better prepare students for more common conversational English they were looking to improve as well as learn more technical terms for their fields. Lessons best suited for high school and early college students.
