About Delaney
I’m passionate about biology, especially health & fitness, more specifically longevity. This curiosity led me to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and shapes the way I teach. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy weight lifting, running, hiking, singing, reading, and spending time outdoors. I’m also an animal lover and spent two years in veterinary medicine, which gave me hands-on experience with biology in real life. I’m always expanding my knowledge to support my health, whether it’s learning new training techniques in the gym or reading about the latest discoveries in human metabolism. I love tutoring because biology helps us understand ourselves, our health, and the world around us. I aim to make lessons clear, memorable, and practical, not just for exams, but for everyday life. I strive to be patient, organized, and approachable, helping students feel confident and curious every step of the way.

My approach to tutoring is focused on helping students build real understanding rather than relying on memorization. I aim to create a supportive and structured learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenging concepts at their own pace.
I use clear explanations, visual aids, real-world examples, and active recall techniques to break down complex biological topics into manageable ideas. I regularly check for understanding by asking students to explain concepts in their own words and by working through practice questions together.
Before our first session, I gather a bit of information about the student’s course, current challenges, learning preferences, and interests so I can tailor lessons to their specific needs. This allows me to make sessions more effective and, when possible, connect biology concepts to real-life examples that are meaningful to the student.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to review goals and focus areas. From there, we move into targeted instruction using diagrams, examples, and guided practice. Each session ends with a short review of key concepts and suggestions for continued practice between lessons.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to explain biology in a clear, approachable way while adapting to each student’s learning style. With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a strong interest in science and health, I enjoy helping students build confidence and connect what they’re learning in class to real-world applications.
My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students, including those taking AP Biology, who want to improve their understanding of biology, feel more confident in class, and perform better on exams. I also support students with scientific writing and study strategies for biology-focused courses.
