My teaching philosophy centers on building understanding, not memorization. I focus on helping students grasp the "why" behind concepts so they can apply their knowledge independently and confidently. I believe learning should feel engaging and purposeful. I begin by assessing a student’s current understanding and identifying both strengths and gaps. From there, I use a blend of explanation, guided practice, and active questioning to reinforce comprehension. I often incorporate visual aids, real-world examples, and step-by-step problem solving to make abstract ideas more concrete. A typical lesson plan includes: -Warm-up/Review -Core Lesson (Concept introduction and discussion) -Practice/Application -Review and Reflect (Key takeaways) What sets me apart is that I make a conscious effort to create a low-pressure, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I also emphasize metacognitive skills—teaching students how to learn so they can become confident, independent thinkers beyond tutoring sessions. My lessons are designed for anyone (middle school through college) who are studying math and science, preparing for standardized tests, and wish to strengthen their skills academically.
