About Joni

I am a dedicated flute tutor with 12 years of teaching experience and around 150 students successfully trained across various levels. I teach beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students with equal focus and commitment.

My teaching approach begins with building strong fundamentals such as breath control, posture alignment, embouchure formation, tone clarity, and finger coordination.

Once these basics are established, I guide students towards articulation techniques, scale practice, rhythm precision, and expressive performance. I create personalised lesson plans based on each student’s goals and pace to ensure steady progress. I also provide clear practice routines that help students improve effectively outside class.

My unique strength lies in my patience and ability to simplify complex musical ideas into easy, manageable steps. I maintain a disciplined yet encouraging environment where students feel confident to grow. My aim is to shape technically strong, confident, and expressive flute musicians.

About the lesson

My flute teaching methodology emphasises building confidence, technical skill, adaptability, collaboration, and positivity. I focus on creating lessons that are both effective and enjoyable.

I start with fundamentals such as posture, breathing, embouchure, tone quality, and finger coordination. Step-by-step exercises in scales, articulation, rhythm, and dynamics help students develop technical precision and confidence. I gradually introduce expressive techniques such as phrasing and stylistic interpretation.

Alongside practical skills, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm understanding to provide comprehensive musical knowledge. This ensures that students connect theoretical concepts with performance.

Flexibility allows me to tailor lessons based on student goals, whether exam preparation, performance readiness, or personal enrichment. Collaboration is encouraged through discussions, repertoire choices, and goal-setting.

I maintain a positive, motivating environment where students feel encouraged to grow and explore. My aim is to nurture disciplined, expressive, and confident flute players who enjoy a lifelong journey in music.
